This is a form of prioritization that is designed to reduce redundancies in the goals and strategies. Frequently, this step involves consolidating efforts and encourages working across functional and divisional boundaries to the benefit of the organization.

Another goal for this step is to review the strategic planning process for lessons learned that could be applied next time or to other organizational planning activities. The organization improves its ability to plan and manage its activities whenever learnings from previous experiences are embedded in the way business is done
