TECHNICAL AND DESIGN CONSIDERATIONS

  • Be sure your recruitment site and your main website are connected, but that neither is buried!
  • Try to keep all of your information on one page; utilize hyperlinks as much as possible.
  • Try to limit information layers to "three clicks".
  • Provide a means to collect feedback.
  • When appropriate, provide a means to send the information on the page to a friend. Research articles on the web to see the latest in bookmarking and forwarding in social media.
  • Test your page with various browsers.
  • Avoid slow-loading graphics.
  • Similarly, avoid frivolous use of java.
  • If you use a flash introduction, give visitors an alternative to skip it.

Finally, there is a difference between adhering to principles of good design and utilizing every blinking, flashing, dancing, singing or rotating design element set within a maze of frames. Aim for the former and avoid the latter. If you do not know the difference, ask an expert.
