ACTIVITIES TO ENHANCE AND PROMOTE YOUR EMPLOYMENT BRAND
- Advertise.
- Sponsor community activities and community organizations.
- Participate in committees within state government agencies or within the community.
- Communicate continuously with the targeted group.
- Send press releases highlighting your services.
- Write articles or serve as a source for reporters.
- Continually research and participate in special events.
- Give speeches and participate in seminars, conferences.
- Ask current employees why they work with your organization and advertise what they say that is great about their job.
- Speak at events where potential "best" applicants may be in attendance.
- List your vacancies with other major websites.
- Publicize your successes, awards, industry recognitions, etc.
- Host "what it is like to work here" days and highlight the importance of the work your employees do in order to spread the word on what a great place this is to work.
- Develop slogans, get a mascot, write songs, pick special colors, jingles, and use your distinctive logo on all communications to highlight work in your organization.
- Involve former employees (retirees) in the process of spreading the word regarding employment opportunities in your organization and what a great place it is to work.
- Publish a recruiting newsletter/magazine/brochure for recruiters and possible applicants which highlights what it is like to work in your organization.
- Develop diversity programs that may get your organization mentioned in national publications; this has the added benefit of making your organization a better place to work.
- Have local celebrities or athletes endorse employment with your organization.
- Sponsor "career workshops" in elementary, middle and high schools to build your image early.
- Start an employment cartoon.
- Sponsor a sports/employment speaking tour (speakers bureau) or run events.
- Ask employees to write columns for publications in local newspapers.
- Encourage employees in your agency or university to join the "Adopt a Highway" program so that your name is seen across the state.
- Sponsor Internet features like joke of the day/quote of the day, etc.
- Develop an Alumni club for ex-employees and retirees.
- Sponsor and provide giveaways such as book bags for school events.
- Add WOW benefits (concierge, dry cleaning, childcare, etc.) that could get you mentioned in the local press. Develop a list and make sure employees send a unified message about what it is like to work in your organization.
